Some good news I forgot to relay in last evening’s post – we learned that Pilgrim, the street dog which followed us for days, was adopted! We were chatting with Rick, from Sydney, who had been a day ahead of us, when the conversation came around to a dog that had followed him. After sharing pictures we realized that Pilgrim had found him and an Italian woman he’d met. She decided to bring him home with her. This news made us all happy.

This morning was another early rise – we were up and moving by 0600 and out underway by 0700. Out in the dark again. Not my favorite hiking. Headlamps on as sunrise wasn’t until 0848. Started out fine but after a bit what seemed like the inevitable rain started up. Fortunately it only lasted about a half hour.

The walk of course took us upward. We finally found a small cafe open for our morning coffee and some breakfast, as we’d only munched on a bar while walking. We passed through the town of Olveira and continued on. The trail splits going one way to Finesterre and the opposite to Muxía. We headed to Finesterre.

The direction continued to be upward. Somehow, when I think we are finally going to crest a hill, no such luck! Another hill approaches. We began seeing windmills – a sure sign we’d be going further up. Seemed to be the story for today.

Later on we came to a cafe/bar which I recalled, especially as it had a sign out front stating it was the last one for 15 km. That’s incentive to stop for coffee. The good news much of what day was that there were very few hikers. We generally had the path to ourselves.

At one point, Karma, who is usually in the lead, stopped. He’d come upon our first sighting of the ocean! It was then downhill until we arrived in the town of Cee, where we are staying tonight. I was done in after two of the longest days we’ve done, the first in the dreadful weather after a less than optimal sleep. And now my poor bunion’s blister which was healing nicely has once again blistered. Wet shoes and socks do my feet in.
