Our final morning in Santorini. Slow start. Had breakfast in the room, packed up and had about an hour to spare so we went for a walk in a section of the town we hadn’t explored. Found beautiful views. But so pleased that we’ve come now rather than later in the season. Already getting crowded.

We hired the same driver who picked us up from the airport to transport us to the port as we were taking a ferry to Milos. We’d been warned that the taxis often gouge tourists and there aren’t many on the island. This was a much better option. We left Oia, passed Fira then came to the crazy steep road down to the port with multiple hairpin curves. He suggested the most reasonable spot to get some sustenance, as Josie is always hungry.
A smoothie and sandwich later we sat playing games. Nothing told us about where or when to board despite that I had downloaded the ferry app and had tickets. Eventually we just followed the crowd. It was a bit of a goat rope, similar to boarding Turkish Airways. A long line snaked toward the high speed ferry which was to carry us to the island of Milos. A ferry rep came along to scan our tickets then we were allowed to board. Chaos. So many people and though we had assigned seats no one was paying any attention to that. I was even assigned a seat in row 14, which didn’t exist. Finally everyone just settled down somewhere and we were off. It really was a fast high speed ferry and the seas were light so it made for a smooth sail. With a short stop at another island we reached Milos in two hours.

We debarked amid more chaos but it thinned out quickly. I could already feel more relaxed with the calmer atmosphere. Within a few steps we found the car rental office. For this island we opted to just explore on our own. With no difficulties we got our car and were off! Fortunately Jayne does not mind driving a stick shift. A short drive from the port we found our hotel. It’s lovely! Check in was easy and our rooms are wonderful. Josie was particularly thrilled that we have our own private pool. As it was already 1600 we decided to stay put and enjoy the pool. The water was a little chilly but with the warm sun we all enjoyed it.

We decided to explore the beach below the hotel. Going through the gate we found a path heading down. Eventually we reached the nice sandy beach with beautifully calm water in the caldera. Josie enjoyed wading in and out stating the water was pleasantly warm. We walked the entire length of the beach until just prior to sunset. Cleaning up a bit, we proceeded to the hotel dining room for a late dinner.
The beaches so beautiful and the sun setting. I thought there would be more sandy beaches and now we see them. What a wonderful journey with your family!!! Josie will never forget!
