Last morning on board the ship. And still the doctor did not relent. I had hoped to go enjoy breakfast with everyone, but no. Breakfast in the room by myself. Then I had to wait until the doctor and other staff came to collect me. Turned out they were taking me on the first tender off the ship. At least they went and found Patty and allowed her to come with me.

We were taken back to the spot where we originally landed and had to get on a bus for the short ride to the airport. Had to find our suitcases that were brought over earlier then process through checking in. And finally I was free of the doctor and the infernal mask!

We had a charter flight , which was lovely, as it was only for those of us on the Flora. Lots of space and a delicious lunch.

And then it was going through the Quito airport goat rope. Dreadfully slow and seemingly inefficient. At least we had Celebrity reps helping us the entire way. Fortunately we have lots of time until our flight to Lima, so no one was stressing. Finally we made it to the VIP lounge to rest and have a bite to eat and of course a drink. Needs must!

Thought that the Quito airport was bad – it was nothing compared with the Lima airport. The flight wasn’t bad, just packed as the flight before had been cancelled. But what craziness once we landed. We stopped out on the tarmac to offload, which isn’t all that unusual. However, when they announced that we had to deplane by a few rows in front then 4 rows from the back, due to a weight and balance issue. That went ok, though definitely more people from the back took advantage of the opportunity. And then it was nothing but chaos. And it continued onto a bus into the terminal and through all the immigration business. Finally we were so excited to see our Celebrity reps! Turned over our bags, got on a very comfy bus with a delightful guide and made it to the hotel just after midnight.

We’ve learned to grab our own suitcases and not wait to have them brought to the room when it’s that late when all we want to do is collapse in bed. Which is exactly what we did.
