Muxía Onward

We stayed two days in Muxía to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and relax at the end of the hike. When Mandy and Karma joined me I had been sneezing and sniffling a bit. I didn’t think much about it. But as we were settling in to the bunk room we heard much more “cold” sounds. Mandy managed to get us a private room instead, the same as we had years before with our trail family, Stephanie and Tony. just trying to stay away from extra sickness and also not to pass anything on, if I had it. Well, Mandy woke the next morning with symptoms similar to mine.

We stayed apart from others and fortunately had been carrying masks just in case. Out they came. That day was overcast and rainy in the morning but eventually cleared enough for us to wander about a bit. Muxía is a small town so it’s easy to go about the harbor or up the hill along the coast.

The following day we had to check out but the hostess allowed us to leave our packs until the afternoon, when we’d be taking the bus to Santiago. The weather was much nicer so we meandered further. Karma continued to challenge me by using small foot paths along the cliffs. Good thing I’ve gotten better at that.

By 1500 there were a good many hikers awaiting the bus. We rode back to Santiago finding our accommodation. The kids went out for groceries and Karma prepared us dinner.

We walked to the bus station the next morning to find our bus to Porto. Lots of travelers, especially hikers. Three hours later we arrived at the intermodal station. That is, the bus station along side the train station. We found our way over to the trains, where I had come in last month, when I had to stay here for my blisters to heal. We had time for lunch prior to boarding the train for Lisbon. Just over three hours later we arrived having passed all the places we hiked.

A taxi ride later we found the Airbnb I had reserved. It’s a slice of Portuguese life! It’s on a tiny street, four floors up on the top of an old building. Quaint and quirky. We’ll be here until we fly home.
