Happy birthday to me!

Not exactly how I thought this birthday would transpire when I booked this cruise a year and a half ago, but hey, I’m alive and somewhat well and still here to tell the tale.

I began the day with a beautiful sunrise and a nice, light breakfast with myself as company. Patty leaned out over her balcony as I did with my cup of coffee and she gave me birthday greetings.

We pulled up alongside South Plaza island for this morning’s walks. The good news was that I had a great view of the island while the rest were out walking.

At lunch my favorite friends from the Point at home were so delightful in taking time to do a FaceTime birthday call. Marvelous to see their beautiful faces!
Patty returned and shared with me the tale of their morning walk and some great pictures. These are from her.

This afternoon we sailed past Daphne Minor and Daphne Major islands. Both of course were volcanic but are slowly falling away into the ocean.

This afternoon we’re stopping at Santa Cruz Island with those able to go off on an excursion at Dragon Hill.
It’s been fun reading greetings from family and friends from around the country and the world. Made me feel like I had a huge birthday hug! Tonight, before my dinner was brought to my room I had a wonderful surprise – the staff that has been taking care of me, along with musicians, came to wish me a happy birthday!

So much to celebrate! You have dear friends far and wide. You’ll be talking about this birthday for many years to come.

Hey Sharon! Happy Birthday! I know it’s not exactly the birthday you expected, but it sounds like you’re making the absolute best of things. Thanks for continuing to share photos and stories. I loved your shot of the hammerhead – that’s a unique wildlife sighting; not many people get to see one of those in their lifetimes. Also, I’m glad you have friends & family around the world to help you feel special on your birthday even if you’re still in physical isolation. Hope you pull out of that ASAP! I’m really enjoying reading about your trip. Plus, it’s helping me remember things of my own Galapagos trip in 2007.
So while you’re cruising around Santa Cruz Island, I am sending you greetings from Santa Cruz, California 🙂 Get better soon – and keep soakin’ up the world! Big hugs, Coyote
