The Journey Begins!

My long time friend and fellow Navy Vet, Patty and I were comparing our Bucket Lists while we were on a cruise to Alaska in 2022. Turns out that both of us had the Galapagos and Machu Picchu near the top of our lists. As luck would have it the ship was offering a talk about a cruise to the islands with a follow on journey to Peru. Well! That was enough of a teaser to get us to see what they were offering. The more we heard, we kept looking at each other and nodding. The next thing you know we found our way to the cruise office and were signing up! We decided to shoot for March of 2024, as it not only gave us time to work around other planned trips, but we could celebrate our upcoming momentous birthdays. I’ll be turning 70 while in the islands and she will turn 65 just afterwards. What better way would there be to celebrate ourselves?

After much planning and following a Facebook group of people having done this same trip or planning to do so, we got ourselves prepared, packed, and ready to go. I’m flying from Seattle to Atlanta to meet Patty, who’s flying from Jacksonville to Atlanta. From there we’ll fly to Quito, Ecuador. 

I understand that the Wi-Fi is very good on board, so hopefully I’ll be able to post frequently, so those who enjoy vicariously traveling along with me, will be able to do so. It’s sure to be a fascinating trip. Heading to the airport tonight to begin the journey. Hope you’ll join me.
